Founded in 1963, Sehyou is currently in its third generation of leadership. The company is inspired by traditional Arita porcelain and manufactures products in both the traditional styles of Imari and Nabeshima as well as producing modern designs for commercial and domestic tableware that suit contemporary tastes. Sehyou & Co. developed their original products by combining underglazing and overglazing colour and they are unusual in that they produce their own paints, pigments, and porcelain clay in-house. They are also exceptional in their utilisation of natural materials and their recycling of the remnant unglazed pottery that other companies would discard. The company is active in a broad range of local programs, including participating in landscape preservation and beautification projects in the city of Imari.
