Tokunaga Pottery Co. Ltd
Tokunaga Pottery was founded in the Okawachiyama district of Imari in 1962 and later opened a second factory in the town of Minamihata. In the past the company has mass-produced all types of tableware. Today it manufactures numerous types of products with a specific focus on domestic tableware that it sells to wholesalers and retail trading companies in Arita and Hasami. Tokunaga’s work is distinguished by a painting technology that enables it to produce hand-painted designs at low cost. Other commonly used techniques include pressure casting using a jigger machine and an in-house multi-model ensemble system.
