Mirthe Klück (1991) lives and works in The Hague (NL). She graduated from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague in 2014 and the postgraduate course at the Higher Institute for Fine Arts in Ghent (BE) in 2019.
Her practice includes paintings and ceramic sculptures in which she explores how layers of matter interact to create surfaces that feel both familiar and alien. This has resulted in a versatile body of work based on Mirthe’s idiosyncratic associative observations of everyday things.
In 2015 she won the audience award of the Royal Prize for Free Painting. Her work has been exhibited among others at Fred & Ferry Gallery in Antwerp (BE), Museum IKOB in Eupen (BE), Galleria Fuoricampo in Siena (IT), M HKA in Antwerp (BE), GEM in The Hague (NL) and Marres in Maastricht (NL). She has participated in various residencies such as the EKWC in Oisterwijk (NL) and FLACC in Genk (BE).

Project in Arita
Title :
Period of Residency : June – August
Sponsor : Mondriaan Fund

She would like to focus on researching glazes and paints such as celadon and gosu, learning more about mold making, and developing new forms of sculpture. She would like to practice hand-painting with a traditional craft artist in Arita and learn more about the relationship between painting and pottery. Eventually she would like to apply the glaze to a porcelain sculpture.
