Rinke Joosten

Rinke Joosten places the production process at the very heart of her work. Her practice embodies an innovative approach to design, in which authenticity, craftsmanship and collaboration take precedence over mass production. Alongside her own artistic practice, Joosten prefers to work closely with others, seeing collaboration as a means for exchanging knowledge, challenging assumptions, and deepening the making process. She is particularly interested in handcrafted objects and artisanal knowledge rather than mass production. Rather than imposing a fixed direction on the creative process, Joosten values being guided by and receiving surprises from the materials, describing her work as a form of “engagement.”
